A gun shop about an hour away began its annual customer appreciation sale yesterday, so the Mrs and I drove out there last evening to check things out.

They had a few Handi's and a couple H&Rs. I noticed their basic Handi's were priced the same as Wal Mart. The Ultra's were about twenty dollars more. None of the NEF stuff was included in the sale.

Anyway, they had a synthetic .270 Handi on the used rack. It was in real good condition and had the NEF scope base and hammer extension as well as a sling and swivels. The price was $149.95. While looking at it, the nice lady who was assisting me said they were discounting the used guns 10%. Hmm ... $134.95 for a synthetic Handi .270 in good condition. I needed all of about a half second to start the adoption papers.

This is my first .270 ... ever! I've always been a .30-06 guy and recently have had guilt feelings about the growing fondness for my new .280. Now I have a .270.

you, I think 270 to the 280 is 6 of one and half- doz of the other.

Great deal, now you will have to treat them all the same no favorites while at the range. Ya right everone has there real favorite shooter. I am growing fond of my son's 22 hornet loading 300 rounds at a go I think I need a big boy barrel, full size to help him shoot them up so I can do it again :eek: , he has the youth superlight barrel on a cut down wood stock shoots good though

Still like my big bores too :wink:

That's a real good deal on a handy. And the .270 is an excellent caliber, as you know, particularly for long range.

I have owned many rifles, mostly Remington Model 700`s, and 5 of them were .270`s, the .270 matched with a Model 700=Extreme Accuracy!! My favorite caliber bar none :grin: Jack.
