I don't know if anyone wants to touch this with a ten foot pole, but:

I loaded some 160 grain Sierra Game Kings for my 7-08.  At the minimum overall length in the Lee book, 2.80, I am touching the lands.  To get the bullet off the lands I have to go to 2.752.  Max load with Varget is 39.0 grains.  Would you shoot it at 39.0 or stop at 38.5 or so?

Just checked the Sierra manual: COAL = 2.775 and Varget maxing at 39.3.  Their max oal is listed as 2.80

I don't know if you've made a work up on the load you're quoting or not but I would strongly advize to NOT just jump into a reloading book and take the max load and start out with it.  Had you done a proper work up, you would already have your answer.

I don't understand what you are getting at.  Of course I am working up a load for the Game King and other combinations.  I have tried the other loads but hesitated to try the ones that were below the minimum length.  Actually, I brought the 160 Game King load to the range, but the bolt was so hard to close from the ogive hitting the lands that I unloaded the rifle and skipped that load.  

So having made a work up and not having the answer then what are you saying?  That I am dumb?
