number 3's will work on beaver but you will miss more beaver with the smaller traps, 4's and bigger are better for beaver. i aint a otter trapper but think the 3's will do if swiveled good and rigged to drown fast

I wasted a lot of time in my early days tryin to get a beavers back foot in a #3. They are fine for a front foot catch but when i finally forked out 25.00 each for some MB750's my catch rate soared.

A number 3 will be more than enough trap for an otter especially in drowning situations.
It will work for beaver in a front foot situation but you will experiences more misses than if you had used a trap with a 7 1/2 in jaw spread.

you might catch a few but w/ beaver it would be better if ya used a #4 or #5. i prefer the longsprings my self but they get fairly expensive.

hell, i use #1.5 for front foot catches for beaver. but for the hind foot use #4 #5 double longs...much better.
