I fired for function Itzy, my 'new to me' 1942 91-30 (see Mosinized Again) last Saturday (snuck off). At first on the 25 yard bench I was getting shotgun groups, 5 to 6 inch. I tightened the action screws and all the usual tricks I could short of pulling the stock and freefloating the barrel at the range. Out of the blue I decided to shoot it off-hand standing at 25 yards and was rewarded with a 1 1/2" group with two shots overlapping in the X ring  !!! I think it was a combination of not using my standard gun rests and flinge from shooting from a bench that gave me those large groups sitting. Ishy is my new, new to me gun, a 'sportsterized' Lee Enfield Mk 2A1 Ishapore (7.62X51/.308). Ishy when I got him was/is a almost basket case, rusty in most places including the bore. I'm a gambler so I brought it home. the bore looked scary dark with hints of rifling. I put an oiled patch through it followed by 4 dry and several years of grime and rust came out. I put on a bronze brush and gave it a few strokes again follow with patches oiled and dry and looked down the bore.... it looked five times better than the 91-30's bore which I did the same treatment. I think a trip to the range is in order
