Ok iamb seeing lot of skat around the ranch.  And we are discussing if it is racoon or coyote.   There appear to be persimmon seeds in the skat.

Who knows?

Coon droppings are usually a sort of "pile", most times left on a log, root, rock, or other low structure. It kinda has the consistancy of a mild case of the squirts, and a lot of times contains various seeds, and other matter.

Coyote droppings look pretty much like regular old dog droppings. They tend to be kinda pointed on the ends, and most times have a good bit of animal hair in them. At times they will also contain bits of bone, and seeds.

It's actually pretty hard to confuse the two if you've had any experience observing them.

Some times it hard to tell the difference in Coon and Fox Skat. They both have some of the same habits, Jerry has it right about the little piles on top of rocks stumps and what have you. Both eat a lot of berrys and fruit.

I was asking because I have seen some monster droppings.  They have some seeds in them and are on an ATV path or the road.  The droppings on the rocks I know are racoon.  But I am not sure about the path or road given its size, unless I have some very large racoons running around.
