Hey, what do you guys think of this model, New or Original?  

I have a 30-06 made in 1995 (New).  I'm not crazy about the finish, but I love carrying it in the woods.  It feels like 100 years ago, to me.  I enjoy hunting with older rifle designs...

I just returned from an Alaskan moose hunt where I was successful with my .405 Model 95.  I used handloaded Hornady 300gr SPs, and they were devastating.  Anchored the moose in his tracks.  There were lots of bears in the area, but I felt confident my '95 could handle them if need be.  The other hunters in the party were impressed with the rifle's feel and performance.  It can shoot faster than any bolt action.  I plan to use this rifle again next year for moose and if I go bear hunting, I'll use it.

I redid the fore end schnabel and stock finish to make them more like the originals.  The modern reproductions' bulbous fore end and shiny plastic finish looks pretty ugly to me, so I shaved down the fore end and put on an oil finish.  After a few more rainy hunting seasons, it will look like an original.
