Flaring a gas check
« on: August 21, 2005, 02:48:44 PM »
I read somewhere about a method to flare a gas check a tad to make it easier to seat on a fat bullet.  Anyone have an idea?

Try a ball bearing of appropriate diameter and a small hammer.

I've used home-made tools to flare the gas checks for easier seating.

You chuck up a short (3" or 4") steel dowel in an electric drill motor, and use a mill file to taper the end to the desired dimensions.  Polish with emery cloth backed with a wood block.
