IMR 4064 and 44Rem mag

Anyone ever use IMR4064 for a 44 Rem Mag load?  I see a reloading page has the load like this:  

IMR-4064 From 26.5 grains to 27.5 grains for a 240gr Jacketed bullet.

Just wondering if anyone ever tried it.  I am shooting a 14" Contender.  I do not see that load listed anywhere in the books I have.

The only IMR powder I found useful is IMR-4227.

I did try the others in a Ruger carbine with 240 grain jacketed bullets, and all I can say is that they did go "bang".

IMR-3031 From 26.0 grains to 27.0 grains
 CCI-350 Primer
IMR-4064 From 26.5 grains to 27.5 grains
 CCI-350 Primer
IMR-4198 From 24.5 grains to 25.5 grains
 CCI-350 Primer
IMR-4227 From 20.4 grains to 25.1 grains
 CCI-350 Primer
IMR-4320 From 27.5 grains to 28.5 grains
 CCI-350 Primer
IMR-4350 From 26.0 grains to 27.0 grains
 CCI-350 Primer
IMR-4831 From 26.0 grains to 27.0 grains
 CCI-350 Primer
IMR-4895 From 27.0 grains to 28.0 grains

Most of the IMR rifle powders are not appropriate for the .44 Magnum, they are far too slow for a small capacity straightwalled case.  While IMR 4227 is a classic powder for this case, even IMR4198 is too slow for decent velocities with anything but the heaviest bullets.  You'll get a huge amount of unburned powder with IMR4064 if you try it, and those charred powder grains will find their way into the receiver and eventually tie up the action.  My advice, don't do it.   :D

Thanks for the replies, guys.  I was just curious since I had some 4064 laying around.  I will take your word for it being too slow.
