It appears our moderater here and I live in the same neck of the woods and I was curious how JJhack travels to Africa. I would assume that you use the Spoklahoma airport, but as you travel there more than I, I am look for some pointers. I can get a deal on British Air but don't know if that is the way to go or should I look elswhere.

I fly delta from Seattle to Atlanta and then non-stop(one stop somethimes depending upon the jet used) from atlanta to joburg

Or Seattle to Amsterdam on NWA and then spend the day there leaving at 8Pm to Joburg on KLM also a non-stop.

I would not suggest the UK route EVER! you land in a different airport then you depart from and that gun transfer is not only expensive for the special security service but is quite of a bugger up that will delay or lose your guns. Damaged guns are not unusual there either.

In the last 14 years the only hunters I have ever had with airtravel related gun problems all went on British airways through gatwick. AVOID the UK!!!

JJ - says what I experienced my two first years when travelling to SA.
AVOID BA (and they are not the most reasonable company either).

Does anyone know the best route from central New York? Driving to NY City is not out of the question. BTW, a day in Amsterdam sounds like a great bonus. :wink:

One of my friends went to Zimbabwe last year and had major problems going through Britain. He was traveling to South Africa and then on to Zimbabwe. When the British found out he was going to Zimbabwe they informed him that they had an embargo in force and would not release his guns for transport to Zimbabwe. He had to continue his flight without his guns and had a hell of a time getting them back on his return trip.
Needless to say he will never travel through Britain again.

British Airways does have the policy of not transporting firearms to Zim. It's in their regulations. Before traveling, always research the airlines policy regarding guns and ammo.

Ramrod IMHO the best thing to do from NY is to take a limo or rent a car one way to Dulles airport in Washington DC for a SAA flight...this gives you two "big pluses". 1.You can fly on a 747 rather than an Airbus 2. the flight is direct from Dulles to J'berg, so you check your bags and you know they are going to J'berg. rather than taking a flight from JFK to ATL to J'berg and needing to wonder if your bags are sitting in ATL instead of J'berg.

Thanx GEMSBUCK, your route sounds like the most fool-proof. Amsterdam deserves more than a day, anyway. :lol:
