Penetration question?
« on: August 23, 2005, 02:02:39 PM »
I will be hunting with my 475 Linebaugh this year for deer and black bear. I have a load using 15gr of HS6 that gives me about 1050fps with a 410gr WFNGC hard cast bullet. My question is this, do you guys think this is enough to give me complete penetration on a tough angle shot and, on my personal favorite, the high shoulder shot? My average shot distance is well under 50yds and closer to about 35 yds. I appologize if this question seems foolish but I am new to the pistol hunting game and the only thing I ask for in my loads is accuracy and the ability to pentrate deep on tough angles and being able to punch through both shoulders and or the spine.

Thanks,

Erick

At that range using that bullet you will never recover a bullet from a whitetail or blackbear with a high shoulder shot. Using my experence with the .41RemMag and 250g hardcast at 1150-1250 I don't think you'd recover one if you hit one in the butt going away either.
Love those .41s'

I think you will find the 410gr WFNGC hard cast bullet more than up for the task. I can't see penetration as a problem.  :D
