What is considered a good price for a complete rifle in an Encore and a Contender?

In March this year I bought a new G2 carbine...that is a frame, buttstock, and foreend...no barrel. New in the box before taxes was $289....Sportsmans Warehouse - Thornton, Colorado

I'm not sure which ones they were (Encore or Contender), but a gunshop I visited for the first time had several in the $465-485 range.

If you add in a barrel to my G2 (I already had several barrels so I didn't buy the gun with one) you can add $220 or so. Puts you over $500. I believe at the time I could have purchased a Encore rifle the same way with no barrel for about $35 more.

Bass Pro Shop had their annual hunting show sale going on here a week ago and had walnut Encores on sale for $499.  The stainless/composite combo was a few dollars more.

I sure wuz tempted.
