I'm not Veral but, I shoot a lot of BPCR and I also use LBT Blue, but not in my BP rifles. It simply is not designed to work in BP. LBT blue lubes the bore and prevents leading. It works great. For BP however, you need to not only lube the bore, but you have to keep powder fouling soft and maintain moisture in the barrel as well. In addition, ANY and I mean ANY petroleum product mixed with Bp will create the worst fouling mess you've ever seen. Only animal and vegetable lubes should be used with BP. I will offer two sugestions based on my experience and that of a great many BPCR guys. SPG, available from Buffalo Arms and a lube called White Lightening work the best. Some sewar by Bore Butter, others like their own concoction but if you look at the vast majority of top champion shooters in BP, to a man/woman they use one or the other of those two lubes. Not all do to be sure but most of the top shooters do.

R J TAlley...  a very satisfied LBT customer.

Mr Talley has it right.  A few customers have said they get great results with Blue soft and black powder, but I think perhaps they may have been using Pyrodex and thinking it's the same as Black.  It isn't, and LBT lubes work well with it.

One aspect about blackpowder lubrication which Mr Talley didn't mention is that the soot becomes an excellent lubricant when kept soft with animal fat, but builds up rapidly when not kept soft.  So, the GOOD blackpowder lubricants are not really all that good at lubrication, but at softening soot and making it into a lubricant.  Since Pyrodex doesn't soot, lubrication is better than soot softeners.

Thanks for the input .  I agree S.P.G. is a fine lube and have tried T/C but
found it a little soft for cartridge use .  Making my own with beeswax is probably a lot less expensive, i'll  try it.
