I was wondering who on this forum has hunted moose in either NH, VT, or ME.  I have been fortunate to have successfully taken moose in NH & ME but would appreciate information on area D-2 in VT.  Perhaps we could share valuable information to make our hunts more successul such as hotspots, places to stay, etc. by private message.

Last year I shot a nice bull in New Hampshire with my TC Contender handgun. I used a guide for a semi-guided hunt and shot my moose on the third day of the hunt. I could have shot a nice big one opening morning but it was a tad bit out of range of the 45-70.

This season my mother was picked and I am the sub permittee. I'll be using a new .375 JDJ barrel with a 4x Leopold scope.

The biggest thing I can tell about moose hunting is to scout and know your area like the back of your hand. The other thing is to keep in mind that scent  is the biggest issue with moose. If they spot you at a clearcut, they tend to look at you with great scruitiny. Once they get your scent, they are gone.

What region in NH were you selected?   I took my NH moose in area E-2 about 1/2 mile from Me. border.

Last year I was in B2 and this season my mom is in A2. So not too far from one another.
