As Stimpylu said, with the right load, they'll shoot real good!! Even the cheap Rem 130gr coreloks shoot a little over 1" in both of mine.

I've used my bolt 270 on 350 yard shots at pronghorn so i'd say yes to a 250 yard shot at whitetail

thanks for the info guys i knew the 270 is a very accurate round in a bolt gun i was'nt sure about in a single shot though, seeing how i had trouble getting my .223 to shoot less then an inch at 100 yards :D

I just picked up my first .270 Handi about two weeks ago.  I've never owned a .270 in anything prior.

Yesterday, I had the first opportunity to see what it could do.  Last week I picked up some PMP and Hot Shot 130 gr. sp. at a gun show for $5.00 a box, so what the heck?

I couldn't get it to shoot the Hot Shots past 50 yds.  At that distance I was getting about 1"-1 1/2" but I couldn't even group at 100 yds.  I checked the scope mounts, forend, etc.  Finally put it away and went back out today.  First, I re-boresighted it and tried the PMP's.  The first shot at 100 yds was at seven o'clock 2" out of the bull.  I adjusted the scope and the second shot cracked the bull at 9 o'clock.  The third shot cracked the bull at 3 o'clock.  The fourth was 1/2" directly below the third.  Other than both my .280 Handi's, I've had few guns that shot so well so soon.

Being a life-long .30-06 fellow, I must admit it took a bit more tinkering and shooting to get the '06 to shoot that well.

Good Luck and Enjoy!

I'm working on my second 270 barrel. The first would shoot about an 1" at 100 yards with the 130gr. winchester silver box power point.
The 270 i have now i haven't got a chance to work up a load for it yet but i think it has alot of potential considering it's an UC. They have a good reputation for being accurate.

I've shot the .270 cal for a number of years in the bolt action and respect what it can do with the right ammo.  This will be my 3rd season with the handi and I really love this rifle so much I parted company with the bolt. Have tried lots ammo, but this thing shoots the green box 130gr. about 1"at 100yds, just about perfect for whitetail.
