Leupold's Mildot.....is it too coarse for fine target work?
« on: August 26, 2005, 05:52:53 PM »
Looking at a Mk4 8.5X25 with a mildot. Anyone out there can tell me if the crosshairs are too heavy for target work? The guy at Leupold said at 25X the center crosshairs were 1/2 inch thick! But that seems very thick to me. If anyone can tell me that they are thin enough for 200 yards suckers it would be a big help! Not wanting to know about any mildot stuff........just the fine intersection of the crosshairs. Bilrus61

I use my 6.5 * 20 mildot on a .243 heavy barrel.  It has very fine center wires and massive outer wires once you get pass the dots.  The scope seems just about as reasonably fine as you could get for the aiming point.  Can hold 3 inch group at 500 yards on absolutely still day from the prone with bipod and rear bag.
