marlin 917vs range results

took it to the range again. at 100 yards i shot both hornady and remington. i hadnt shot the hornady ammo through this gun yet because the remingtons were so accurate.

the remingtons still were a bit tighter groups but not by much. i shot about half of each box and got tiny little groups with both. my cousin went with me and his eyes lit up as he shot again and again with no recoil yet could stack the bullets on top of each other. he said "how much did you pay for this?" and when i told him, less than an hour later he was on the phone with his wife mentioning that he was buying a new toy. he has the right kind of wife, she thought it was a cool idea and was interested too. damn lucky guy...

the results? off a sitting position using a piece of 6x8 lumber for a rest we shot several groups that were 1/4" or slightly larger, and countless groups of less than an inch. in fact the only one OVER an inch was the first group he fired after shooting only pistols for months. and that group was still less than 2 inches.

i fired one group of 6 shots, as quickly as i could accurately shoot, and got a group of under an inch. i could not believe this. apparently the "fliers" my gun shoots with hornady ammo only "fly" a half inch from point of aim.

all in all i thank Quick for his patience and Marlin for the fun.

-Matt :D

Uh, if you were talking to me, I have a 917V and a 93R-17 BVSS. Both are good shooters. Love those 17s.
