Two sorry rascals.....
« on: August 28, 2005, 02:07:23 PM »
showed up at the Swan Creek Managment Area Shooting Range this morning around 10 am. Seems they go by the handles of De41mag and hellacatcher. They had a mess of Handis with 'em and proceeded to blast the daylights out of some poor defenseless paper circles and prairie dog silhouettes. Not to be outdone, I settled my own Handis across a shooting bench and did all within my power to show 'em how it's done. Me thinks that hellacatcher must have it in for me as on firing my 38-55 twice, the transfer bar keeper pin broke. I must admitt that I REALLY like his 22 Hornet and just between us here, if he were to offer it too me for busten' my rifle, I'd act like I was a bit insulted, but wanten' to keep the peace I'd take it. I couldn't figure out how to get De41mag distracted long enough to hide that pistol grip stock on his 22-250 frame from him, it'd make a nice addition to my 357 Max.

All in all we had a great afternoon swappin' tales, shooten' and testin' each others firearms out. The 22 Hornet and the 223 are both mighty temptin'. May be a couple of new barrels in my future.

It was mighty good to meet a some folks here, 'specially folks that were around in the old Marlin/NEF Talk days. We wrapped up the afternoon settin' a loose date for end of September-mid October to do this again. Have to be careful hangin' out 'round here, never know who you might end up shooten' with.

I did get to try to shoot of a ole 38-55 trigger so hard had to wack it with a big rock to get it to fire. Then someone else had a weird looking 22-250 the stock was all twisted up on it.  I thought about straighten it out for him maybe next time. The most fun I have had in a long time.

Yeah;

I was shooting with these oddballs, JPH45 and hellacatcher and even another guy who goes by the name of welshman. He hasn't posted here, but has on the handgun hunting section. Welshman showed up with  one of those strange calibers in a BC, a 38-55. Hellacatcher has got his eye on that rifle of welshman's. I guess so after breaking JPH's rifle.
So if hellacatcher gets that rifle he will have two BC's, a 45-70 and that weird 38-55 round.  :wink:
I cracked up laughing when we brought the targets back to the firing line and JPH looked at the group and said " Man what a group... you could cover that thing with a softball!  :-D  :)
As the others have said, I really had a great time. A lot of laughs, good stories and a lot of shooting.
Jeff223, we would be glad you joined us if you could find the time and make the trip.
Oh, by the way Marv, when I come out to the next PD shoot, I'm bringing you some STANBACK's. I remember us talking about them at the restaurant at Four Points.

Hellacatcher,

Probably more than you would think.  My folk used to live in Athens just up the road from Swan Creek ... I've fired a few round there myself.

They now live in Florida, but I've got a cousin who still lives in Huntsville ...

Beautiful place Swan Creek ... shot a lot of doves there over the years.
