What To Do??

Not so hypothetical situation:

Member initiates a personal confrontation and it gets out of hand!  What to do?

Well, heck, the member is a moderator so just lock the thread. :-D  :-D

So long Mac, and so long Graybeard Outdoors!

Longcruise:

I locked the thread while debating on shipping it over to a place the moderators take things for GBO to do as he see's fit to...but unlocked it realizing there was some good info for Larry and others on it and while I was posting again to it...My mistake...I do apologize...

sorry for the double post, go ahead and delete one or both if you like.  It got fouled up when I used my back button after shredding my profile.

Lie I said, so long.

No need to leave.  By the number of posts you have, it seems that you have a lot to share.
I think that when people post to a thread, they need to stand back and look to see if what they are posting is on topic and is adding to what the post is all about.  When you find yourself going back and forth with another person like what went on, just agree to disagree and drive on.  I'm guilty of it too sometimes.  So rebuild your profile, pull up a chair and hang around a bit.  :-)

Grab a cup of coffee, pull your chair back up, and kick your feet up. No need to leave over a little squabble.

Varminter:
You missed exchange(s) between the involved parties that have been deleted by the powers-to-be. Just a case of two individuals stating their positions, similar to religion and politics, where no one is ever going to change the others mind. Got a little intense.

By the way: The other day I say an antelope cross the road in from of me, and I swear it had your name tattooed on its rump. Better get up here and kill it.

I'm gonna try to head up your way this time next year. Most people have a P-dog hunt on their mind. I've got antelope running through mine. My 270 UC should get the job done quite well. I just have to find a load it likes.

Truth be known, most all of us at one time or another have been ticked off by someones posts or response to our  post, but we have to remember that there are a lot of differing opinions here and sometime we disagree.

Leaving isn't always the best answer.  Like Haywire said, Longcruise has made many posts and has had a lot to contribute.  Sometimes even GB himself loses it and I think he at least has the ability to sit back and look something over after he cools off and lets it go.

Sometimes we need to do the same.

We all need to remember to make sure we state OUR opinions as just that, opinions!  I for one know very few of my experiences could be written down as hard cold fact and I'm sure many others feel the same way.

Hopefully cool heads will prevail and this, like Katrina, will soon blow over.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

I've been gone a few days, so I am with Varminter on this, I missed it too. But like they said, I would hate to see ya go longcruise. I too like to check out your posts. Stick around man.

Strange thing is, in my absense, I was actually down your way Varminter. In TN.

Sure I am. Both grouchy and old enough to be. Running a site like this will make you both grouchy and old before your time.   If ya don't believe it try it some time.

But as to the subject of this particular thread I have no clue what the heck ya'll are talking about. I must have missed it.

I'm new here but read the posts in question and I don't see anything in those posts that would, or should make someone want to leave this great site.

I see two guys that are just stating what they believe and are willing to fight to the death to prove it.   :)

It's a shame they just can't shake hands and get over it.  There mush be some prior hard feelings or something.

I was always told you can learn more by keeping your mouth shut and your ears open rather than vice  versa.   I need to learn a lot so that is what I try to do.

The shame is when something like this happens people like me who needs to learn a lot may never get a good second opinion from someone who might have a lot to offer.  It just ends up hurting everyone, especially those of us who don't allready know it all.

Thanks Drew. I read it and added my comments. In a nutshell they said that it didn't appear either party in the pissing contest has so far broken any GBO rules so arguing within the scope of rules is OK. But taking it off forum via PMs is even better since it had gotten somewhat off the original topic. Even added my experiences with the round.

True that. That's one reason I love this site so much is the diversity of people and their reasoning for their preference-Man that sounded religious :)
But true none the less. I have learned a lot from both of them not to mention all the other members here about becoming a better marksman.
