Palmetto Arms?
« on: February 25, 2003, 03:14:08 PM »
Who knows anything about Palmetto Arms?  I'm toying with the idea of buying their .36 Whitney repros from DGW. They are also slated to introduce a copy of the 1855 Colt Sidehammer in .31 cal.  Anybody seen their guns?

I see DGW listing Palmetto as a maker, it might be a new name for an older company.  I'm going to research it.  Uberti now belongs to Beretta, and Armi San Marcos bought by AWA.  There was an Armi San Paulo, and there still is Pietta and Pedersoli.  Many of the other namse like Mitchell, etc were distributors.

I found Palmetto arms on the net (harder to find in English).  Seems to have been around for some years, was once called "Euro Manufacture", EuroArms (?).  It lists Dixie Gun Works (only) as American distributor.  Quality is sublject to inspection.  The website includes a fun poker game....

Well, I broke down and ordered a Whitney .36 by Palmetto today and am on the "list" for their copy of the 1855 Sidehammer .31. I'll be posting my findings.
