Leather arrived today from San Pedro Saddlery
« on: February 25, 2003, 04:17:31 PM »
OK now I have it all in. The leather from Big Ed at San Pedro Saddlery arrived in the big brown truck this afternoon. So now I have the belt, holsters, revolvers, rifle and shotgun plus the cart from Shootin Carts so I guess I'm ready to give it a whirl come Sunday morning.

Belt is marked 48 and even tho my jeans are 46 but getting tight so is the belt a bit tight. Sumpin tells me this old fat boy needs to lose some weight.  :)

Thanks Big Ed for the leather. BTW not sure if you noticed in my other post but I selected 20 ga for my shotgun.

Hey Big Ed, I was thinking of you the other day. We were at a horse auction and they sold some spur straps like I'd never seen. They were the buckaroo kind like you made me. Now, I've seen 'em made with snake skin and even ostritch but have you ever seen them in camo? I started to get some and send you but the winning bidder took all 6 pair.

Big Ed, as far as I know you've not sent either. When we were talking last time I hadn't decided on which gauge to get as all I had then was the 28 ga. which wasn't SASS legal. You said to let you know when I figured out which gauge I was gonna shoot and you'd sent it then.

I mentioned gauge first I think in a response to your post about the leather being shipped. After I traded for the 20 ga. I think that's where I posted it. Since you hadn't responded on that thread I wasn't sure if you had seen it or not. That's the reason for the comment in this thread. If you've sent either shogun belt I've not gotten it yet. The belt and holsters came yesterday.

Question for ya on the way the leather is tanned. Is it tanned so it will not rust the guns or cause the cases to turn green if left in them for long periods? Or must all brass and guns be removed after use?

Howdy Graybeard!
All of our Leathers are Vegatable or Oak Tanned, even the oil we use is acid free! we do not use nor do we recomend you use neatsfoot oil as it is acidic to some extent. However, you should not store your ammo in any Gunrig due to the natural formation of "Verdegris" (green stuff) that will eventually form no matter how the leather was tanned. I musta got befuddled about the shotgun belt Pard! :? ,  Ya want it fer a 20Ga ?
also, how's about the Gunbelt? do I need ta make ya one a wee bit larger?

Howdy Big Ed. Yup pard I'm gonna be a shooting a little 20 ga. Me and the 12 jist don't git along too well what with the bursitis in my right shoulder. Heck I'm only gonna load 3/4 oz. in it.

Iffen ya don't mind it would be best fer the belt to be a bit larger. This old fat boy can only pull it to the 2nd of the 7 holes in it. While I really hope I've spread as much as I'm gonna that ain't what the past few years tells me is realistic. Rat now I'm about 2" away from being centered which I assume is best. That way ya got room to get bigger er smaller.  :)

Ya want me to pack this one up and ship it back rat after I make my debut this Sunday? Or do ya need me to ship it back before I use it in that first match on Sunday?
