got a little problem, any suggestions?
« on: September 01, 2005, 10:30:31 AM »
recently purchased a rem. 700sps in .300wsm and bolted in a hs precision stock. today, i loaded up the magazine and the rounds hang up when trying to cycle them. i could see the magazine follower was hung up. i opened the floorplate up and noticed that there was about a 1/16" gap between the magazine and the trigger guard/floorplate assembly. any suggestions how to fill this gap without it looking like crap? i hate to have to "duct tape" a $1000 rig. basically the magazine is just a hair too short.

a slight gap is normal for the mag box on the 700 action. If the action and the floorplate both come up hard against the box it is possible to spring the action slightly.  That's a sure recipe for accuracy trouble. The follower shouldn't be hanging up on the bottom of the mag box in any case!
