new orleans and the second amendment...
« on: September 01, 2005, 12:16:45 PM »
the next time some f%$## clown says that "we dont need the second amendment, we have the national guard."  throw what is happening in na'leans in their face.

my wife thinks i am a bit overboard with my guns,  but even she sees the value of firepower in this situation and is forced to concede i am right.

if it can happen there, it can happen anywhere.   we are all just one disaster away from total anarchy.   wake up!

When a government agent looks at a citizen with a gun, he doesn't see a person taking care of themself, the agent sees a threat that needs to managed and controlled.

Looking at the damage that some of the people in NO are doing to themselves, shooting cops, shooting at relief workers, shooting at military aircraft, etc. , one has to ask the question about whether or not that government agent might not be right in some cases.

I did see one news clip where a homeowner posted his property and was chasing off looters with a shotgun.  They saw he was armed and serious and have been taking the path directly away from his property.  I wonder when he sleeps.  At least it works on that level.

Feral humans, and so quickly.  Madness.

 :(
They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

Fred - your last comment is most accurate - the level the 2nd Amendment is supposed to work on is the individual level for the protection of life and property.  And that's where we, as individual citizens should employ the 2nd Amendment - at our homes to prevent personal loss through criminal efforts, not to take up arms to prevent civil disorder.

Yes, the Cops and the NG are supposed to restore order in situations like this - if we (citizens) banded together and tried to stop looting or rioting we would be seen as worse than the looters and ciminals - imagine, shooting innocent people trying to survive a horrible tragedy like that - and that is exactly how we would be seen.

If, however, we armed ourselves to protect our families, our liberties and our properties and stayed at our homes or business to do this then we probably would not be seen in such an unfavorable light but hopefully seen justifyably using firearms for personal defense.  JMHO.  Mikey.
