Shot a 450 Marlin Katahdin Barrel Today
« on: September 04, 2005, 04:26:11 PM »
This is my first buffalo class caliber.

Wow

I got it fairly well dialed in today at 100 yards using 18 rounds.  The Kick Eez pad made for the Encore works great.  I am sure it is the only reason I could shoot this shoulder cannon.

I shot the 350 grain Hornady factory ammo.  It is supposed to come out the 18" barrel at 2000 fps.  I put a small 1X4 20 scope on it.  It is a small and light package.

Its going Elk hunting with me this October.

Oops, corrected that 1000 yards to 100 yards.

Thanks for the correction, I have done a few typo's on this site also. At
first you had me worried, I have a .450Ultra & I was afraid that I could not
find a scope base with enough taper to be competitive & I knew I would
need a bigger scope!  :)
Anyway, good luck with your 450 & your Elk Hunt! I do want to ask you
about the muzzel blast with the short, ported barrel as I would like to get
one of these in 444 for my Encore if I can find one.
You will not make peace with the Bluecoats, you are free to go.
