My friend bought an SKS not too long ago. He paid much more than it was worth, but it cycled fine, for a while atleast. Now, when you put rounds in the magazine (even just one) when you try to close the chamber the silver slide on top doesn't close all the way unless you let the gun snap shut. The gun fires at this point, but when the breach kicks open it peels the brass rim off of the cartridge, leaving it stuck in the barrel.
I've disassembled the gun and given it a good cleaning--I figured the thing was just fouled up, but I've seen no improvement. I might need to try cleaning it again, though.
Any ideas?
