lets talk about our bow equipment we will use this year
« on: September 07, 2005, 02:26:23 AM »
I thought this would be an interesting subject,  i know we all try new gadgets and gizmos  so i will tell ya my simple equipmnet.  Ill shoot a PSE Bruin with rimfire cams set at 60 llbs 31 inch carbon express wolverines with 100 gr muzzy 3 blade broadheads, i went to using 2 pins debated 1 and shot with 1 pin  but am comfortable at 35. ive been using a release for a yr now  and love it. it is a trufire release  ive shot 11 hogs and 3 deer with this bow and set up in thelast yr.  the only new thing ive done is take off the bow mounted quiver  and bought a cat quiver backpack quiver.  i have tried every quiver possible while hog hunting  and had horrible luck with arrows falling out getting lost getting caught in weeds   i think this will be a big improvement  i like the way ti feels and shoot help   i recently shot in a 3 d tounmanet  and shot a 281 out of 300 with 2 pins  so  im  ready to go.  ill be hunting on my lease in east Texas depending on how many of us show up  i may go do a quick bowhunt for hogs at hun n shoot in Chester texas
Hi  enjoy  hunting  guns    teaching  my  2  daughters  about  hunting  and  boxing

MATTHEWS LEGACY,
MUZZY 100 GRAINS
RHINOS
USE AN OLD NAP RELEASE (LIKE IT BUT AM THINKING OF GETTING A NEW ONE)
MATTHEWS DETACHABLE QUIVER

USED TO SHOOT A PSE, DIDN'T SHOOT FOR A YEAR,WAS THINKING OF A NEW BOW. MY LOCAL PRO SUGGESTED A MATTHEWS. THE FIRST TIME I SHOT THE BOW I SHOT A THREE INCH GROUP! I WAS SOLD RIGHT AWAY, AFTER A LITTLE PRACTICE ( AND A LOT OF FLETCHES LATER) I CAN HAMMER BOTTLE CAPS AT THIRTY YARDS (OKAY NOT EVERY SHOT, BUT EVERY COUPLE OF SHOTS)

I'm shooting a new Hoyt Ultra Sport, had it about a month now. Very quiet and stable. Tuned easily and shoots where I'm aiming, can't ask for more. Set at 65 pounds.
Doinker stabilizer and a TruGlo 3 pin sight, with a peep.
Rest is a deluxe Whisker Bicuit, a really great rest.
Arrows are XX75 2213 with Blazer vanes.
Broadheads are Rocky Mountain Razor 125, gonna try them in a hip quiver.
Release is an old Fail Safe, attached to a string loop.

Hoyt Ultra Sport.  I sold off my PSE Nova, worked well for 5 years and I took many deer with it.  I just wanted something new.    This bow is extremely quiet and shot very well for me.

Set at 54 lbs
Easton Axis and Gold Tip 5575's
Nap 100gr broadheads - can't remember which ones but just as accurate as field tips
NAP 100 Gr Spitfire, cut on contact Mechanicals - very accurate.
No stabilizer, although I could use my doinker, I don't need it
Removed the wrist loop, don't need it
Alpha Shox - Limbsavers new Limb recoil reduction things for Hoyt's
String Leeches

Standard sight's that came with the bow
Standard rest that came with the bow - Prong type this will probably go away next season
Quiver that came with the bow.   If it mounts upside down I might keep it, otherwise I'll replace.  I don't like the nocks facing down, they get filled with dirt and other crud when I'm still hunting.
Tru Ball release - 5 years old and still works great, it's one of the cheaper ones but works for me.
