No Crown

I recently read an article about recrowning a rifle barrel. I checked both of my rifles and they have no crown, they are flat on the muzzle. Should I have these crowned to gain better accuracy ?

As long as they are perfectly flat, burr free, and the lands aren't damaged (use a magnifying glass to look) you probably won't see an improvement. If there is any imperfection, you probably would see some results from having them recrowned. Remember, the latest fad in benchrest is the "no crown" flat muzzle. They are really hard to keep from getting damaged though.

Some muzzles are flat with a small recessed ring right around the bore.

I looked at my remington 700 and model 7 both have a crown like Dave in WV. said .
I enjoy collecting guns, swaping and staying up on all the newest models. I deer, quail, squirrel and rabbit hunt.
