Yes a .308 with a good quality bullet will take moose as long as you work within the calibers restrictions and place the shot adequately.

I have a picture of a moose in the Alaska forum that was killed by my .44 with a 300 grain Speer from 60 yards.  The 30/06 is a all round rifle up here except for the big bears as a primary goal.  Many of the natives use .223, 30/30 and a variety of calibers.

A .338, .35 Whelen, 300 Win Mag, .375 H&H might be better in less than ideal conditioins but  a .308 will do the job.

My friend has a hunting partner that has used a .308 for moose hunting the last 30 years!  It will definately do the job.!

I would just highly recommend using one of the Premium bullets, you'll get better penetration on a big bodied moose.  I would also use a 180 grn bullet, such as Nosler Partition, Barnes X, Trophy Bonded Bear Claw, Swift A-frame.  I know that you can get the the 180 grn Nosler Partition in factory ammo in Federal's Premium line!  This is what my wife carries in her .308 for hunting up here in Alaska!

Good Hunting!

J Frank,
It will be a fine weapon to bring. Factory ammo with 180 grain Noslers will be fine out to 200 yards. I have a hard time imagining taking a moose at a range farther than that as most conditions allow for shots considerably closer.
Be confident, it is a good choice!
best,
