Need help quick
« on: September 08, 2005, 12:40:42 PM »
I am in a world of hurt. I have been shooting my bow for 3 months and suddenly I have gone from 3" at 25 yards to 2 feet from anything. Nothing makes sence some are left some are right. This is a golden eagle bow that I have shot for 6 years never a problem. I bare shaft tuned 3 months ago and have shot great until today. Where do I start. BTW season opens in 7 days. thanks TVC15

More information. It will shoot fair vertical but it is off 2ft. right one shot then 2ft. left the next time. Checked all the obvious stuff seems OK. people at work thought it could be the string. they seem to think it can streach causing it to twist. Does this seem logical? any other suggestions?  thanks in advance tvc15

You have something more than simple string stretch going on here, to cause a 4 foot horizontal dispersion in your arrow group. Something in your tune has gone way out of wack, or something is bent, broken, or ready to come apart. Time to go over ever part of the bow. Look for broken parts, cracks in the riser or limbs, one of the cables stretched or ready to break causing a severe out of time condition. Check everything.

Could be as simple as sight was bumped or as complex as somthing is cracked..Is you anchor point the same? sometimes that will throw it off, but not a foot or so..When you hold your bow...dont "white knuckle" grip it..hold it nice and easy, and when you shoot..just let the bow go off..dont move it..I would take it down to your local pro-shop and have them take a look at it..Good luck with everything...keep us posted.

Are you possibly hitting your clothing in some manner?  Pulling the string into your coat, hitting your sleave or something.

Otherwise to have a 4 foot difference something has to be loose.  If everything is tight, then there should be some consistancy.

Have you let someone else shoot it to make sure it is not your shooting style also?

OK I think I found it. There is a slight crack or delamination where the bow splits in front of the cam. Is this an easy fix?

Time for some new parts, there's no fixing a cracked limb. If it's a newer bow is it still under warranty? Best to take it to your dealer or pro shop and see what they have to say.  :(

I just reread your original post and see that we are talking a 6 year old bow, so chances are it is not under warranty (I'm not sure of Golden Eagle's warranty policy). The way models are changing from year to year limbs may not even be available any more. Check with your pro shop.
And don't shoot it.

Had the same thing happen to me . Groups all of a sudden went from pretty good (for me) to all over the place. I took the bow back to Bass Pro Shop where I bought it, and they found that the rest had cracked and was moving around. Worked out for the best though, I replaced it with a Whisker Biscuit!
