bad luck with my encore forend

I put my encore with the shoulder stock and 209x45 barrel in my gun case then I put in the hand grip and my prized 209x50 15 inch barrel. with a very sweet forend that I customized my self. so I could go to the range. I had to make 4 trips to the range to find it closed every time, even though I called a head the last 2 times :evil:.
so tonight I unpacked everything and found the 209x45 barreled encore had slid down and snapped off one of the "wings" on my custom 209x50 forend :evil:   :( .

I was able to glue them together for now but I know it would drive me crazy with that crack showing. so I made a call to ED's T/C and put in an order for a new forend, and it should be on it's way to me tuesday for only $36.00 shipped :-D  

this should give me enough time to work on this one

well I spent most of the day today working on this forend.
I used gorilla glue and glued the wing back in place.
then I sanded it down and repainted it, several times I keep gittin dirt in the paint. used steelwool between the 3 coats, now I am ready to put the varnish on it.

I can not waite to get home and try it on the frame to see if it still fits

I had a similar situation caused by me taking a bad fall in some rocks, except I had a large split in my forend's laminate (believe it or not!).  After using some Marine-Tex, a LOT of elbow grease, some MinWax ebony stain and spray Tru-Oil, you can't even tell the forend was damaged now.  I got a lot of satisfaction from making a good repair, but it would have been a lot more time and $$$ efficient to buy another one!   :-D

Well I did a lor of work on the forend, I glued it sanded it and repainted it (several times) and put a few coats of clear coat. It is very hard to tell that it was borken, the only way I can tell is the broken wing sticks in a little but it still works great on the frame. it looks as good as it dit before I broke it.

Now I ahve a brand new forend on the way and may put it up for sale
