Bi-pods are more stable, but limit "panning" to some degree.Usually not a problem though. I carry them all the time when covering lotsa territory. I made this set for under 10 bucks.

But, if I'm going to do a morning or afternoon "stand", I prefer this setup.
It'S rock soild and pivots 360 degrees,(that would be my son checking it out).

Oh, and it is fairly portable, breaks down, and fits a small suitcase,weighs about 30 #'s
