took my setter pup out today with some planted quail...

a bit slow at first,  he was more interested in following us at first.  then he got with 10 feet of the first bird and everything changed.  at two feet out,  he locked up on point,  rock solid.  

  we fired a blank on  the second bird and he didnt even flinch.   let him find three more and then worked my buddies dog.    

all in all i am very happy for the first time out.  he did very well.

You got to love them Setters.  Although the breed isnt too popular here in the South I still think a good close working Setter is the best bird dog around.
