Providing you have your temporary PAL (at the border), and an appropriate hunting licence, the restrictions on firearms are pretty much standard.
You may not have a loaded firearm in or on a motor vehicle (includes a loaded mag), when transporting a firearm in a vehicle, it must be encased and unloaded from 1/2 hour after sunset to 1/2 hour before sunrise.
If a firearm is being "stored", it must be secured in a locked gun cabinet or room or trigger locked. This "storage" issue is occasionally an item of contention. It's generally agreed that if you are in your cabin, the gun isn't being stored, however, if you leave it behind in a vehicle or leave the cabin to go to town it should be locked. I usually take a back-up gun, and I keep it trigger locked until I plan to use it (then I lock my primary.
