I know that accuracy varies from barrel to barrel, but what is the average accuracy I should expect from a .280 Handi barrel?

Thanks

Hello Reynolds :D

Well, my two handi rifles shoot sub MOA (at 100 yrds) ...the darn thing of it is I don't have a .280 barrel, However I would suspect one would get reasonable accuracy from the .280. Now there are some things that help make our handi rifles better. Readings the faqs and stickys are not only interesting, but they are also very helpful. I am sure there are some .280 handi shooters that will chime in here. Best of luck to you.

No 2 rifles will shoot the same...just as no 2 riflemen will.If you are proficeint with other rifles...I would suspect you'll be proficeint with a 280 Handi.

Sometimes you'll get a great shooting one...straight from the box without having to do anything to it..other times you'll struggle just finding a load that will shoot. This isn't any indication of the quality of our Handis, but just a fact with any rifle.

The FAQ's at the top of this page will help you if yours isn't shooting as good as it should,or if your wanting to tinker with it to shrink the groups down even more or make it shoot more consistantly.

We have some pretty accurate 280's here, most of them averaging m.o.a. or less, and most of the folks who have them, really like them.I wouldn't hesitate in recomending one to anyone who is interested in it.The 280 is a very good caliber and I think you would like it.

My 280 will do about 1 1/2 to 1 1/4 with 150 gr. Rem corlokts. It seems about the same in the other guys 280's also, with the 140 grs. bullets a little better. Digger

Hello Reynolds.

I'm getting similar groups as Ditchdigger with the Rem 150 gr ammo.

What I have noticed is that both my .280's zeroed quickly and the groups are very consistant.  They were in the bull at 100 yds. within a couple of shots.  I'm working on a 200 yd. zero for both using the same ammo.

Good luck!
