Barrell Accessory? 45-70 barrell
« on: September 12, 2005, 07:51:15 AM »
I want to send my handi in and have a rifled 20 gague slug barrell and a 45-70 barrell fitted.  I am looking at the part #457 for the 45-70 but it says it includes adjustable open sights.  I want to scope mine.  Do I also need to order a scope rail and offset hammer spur for this barrell?  Will it already be drilled and tapped?  Which scope mount is better the ultra or the standard mount?  Also is it correct that all I have to do when I send it in is ask for the trigger job and they will do it for free?  Mine is a little heavy as it is right now.  Thanks for such a great site.  I do alot more reading than posting.

You can order it with a scope rail instead of the sights if you want, I would order a rail in addition to the sights for a little more versatility. The sight it comes with will be the Williams WGOS blade sight. All rifle barrels are drilled and tapped for a scope rail with the exception of the 45/410.

The Ultra rail is an inch longer than the standard rail and helps if mounting a longer scope which probably wouldn't apply to a scope on a 45-70, your call.
