Quick: Got The 45-70 BC
« on: September 13, 2005, 08:36:07 AM »
I gave it a long shot and called a dealer up in the N.E. area of PA were I hunt looking for the 45-70 he had 1 left $308.00  :-D
I sent him a deposit on the gun and ask him if he would hold it until I get up in the area mid-month of the 15 of Oct. he said no problem.
Quick: since I never loaded for this round I read a good choice of powder is 3031 IMR can you give any help with what would be a good starting point when it come to the bullet?
 :D
and don't forget the $20.00  rebate from H@R :)

Starting load bullets for BC .45-70
« Reply #1 on: September 13, 2005, 08:57:45 AM »
:D I load .45-70 for a Marlin Guide Gun and a .45-70 Handi.  I like the IMR3031 powder, and use it with the Hornady 350 grain round nose jacketed bullet, and a hard cast round flat nose from Mid-Kansas Bullets.  In the cast bullets, I use the 300 grain for a lighter load and a 405 grain for more thump (on both ends).  You'll want to experiment with the powder charge to get the right accuracy/recoil/velocity combination for your rifle.

That's a great price on that Buff I paid 300 for mine back in 2000 and it came without sight's. You're gonna love that gun. To answer your question from the other site about the 32" barrel I never had a problem with it. Being disabled I don't have to carry it through the wood's. I have used it from my tree stand (4x4 platform with step's) to take a whitetail with no problem. This is the site to find out all you want to know about the buff classic ,great bunch of people eager to help hang out here. Good Shootin****************ogo

Scha-weet!

(I think Mr. Quick must be out actually using some of his handis, instead of talking about them on here - he's got some nerve, not checking in here for several days - some "Handi Hero".   :D  :-D )

Just a question? Do the 45-70 BC come with iron sights or do they have to be purchased separately. If they don't, which sights work the best for long distance shooting.  Zeak
