The Buffalo Classic continues to shine
« on: September 13, 2005, 08:55:50 AM »
I took the BC and my handloads to the range today. This rifle amazes me every time I have a chance to shoot it.It is the best shooting most consistently accurate rifle I have ever had the privilege of being the custodian of.
I've worked up a really good load using 40Gr. of REL7 and a 300Gr. Remington jacketed bullet. At 100 yards it always shoots about a 1-1/2" group.Today I also tried some 330 gr. cast bullets that a friend in Oklahoma City had made and sent me.Same powder load as stated above. These shot about 1" to the right and cloverleafed every shot.
I have a regular Handi in 45/70 which I hunt with and it is quite accurate.Almost as much so as the BC.Danged if I ain't tempted to just hunt with the BC even with the much longer barrel.
On another note I also took the almost new .270 Handi to try my recent handloads with it and was rewarded with consistent 1" groups at 100 yards.
The problem is that I have to decide which one of the darlings get to go hunting each time and that is no easy decision when you have to make a choice between 5 excellent shooting Handi's in different calibers.

I know it is having to decide which gun to hunt with..   Kinda makes you feel like you're neglecting one of your children when you choose another.

stan and deck i use the lee 500r bullet cast in 20 to1   mix black powder or smokeless my smogless load at the moment is adi ar2207 37grn gives me 1450 fps and no leading i started using red roster bp7 lube  so far it has lived up to its claims seems to have the edge on spg as far as leading goes.plus when summer gets here we get long strings of 100+degree days  the bullet is 508grn and is super accurate.had my barrel sluged it is .450 bore at the muzzle .452 at breach .457grove at mazel and .459 at breach sort of like a mild choke lol.

That is indeed a wicked looking load.Is that bullet style available commercially in a 300 grain load?If so I may wish to load some of them.
Thank you very much for the picture.
