1st Air Gun for Silhouette
« on: September 16, 2005, 02:06:20 AM »
I'm a total newbie to air guns. I've been shooting Rimfire &  HP silhouette for a year and I've been thinking of buying an air gun to practice shooting with this winter in the basement.

I'm not sure what to buy, sping gun or PCP. Price is a factor (would like to stay below 500.00). Is this doable? I'd aprreciate any opinions offered. I'm also planning to attend an air gun match in the next month to get an idea of what's used

Thanks

I would go with a good .177 underlever like the HW97, go to http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/model.pl?model_id=41 to see on at Pyramyd Air.  These rifles are known for their accuracy and are used by many in air rifle silhouette matches.  This would by my first choice.  Lawdog

Hi GTKF,

$500 is not enough budget if you're considering a PCP, $800-$1000 is a more realistic figure.  Attending an airgun silhouette match is a very wise move to get insight on appropriate equipment.
