Weaver quad rings, any good?
« on: September 16, 2005, 10:20:35 AM »
Having just picked up my new SS Encore with .223 and 7-08 barrels yesterday (at last a gun with character) I also brought home a set of Weaver quad rings and base. Are they strong enough for the Leupold 4-14 VX1 I am going to mount on the .223. Also does the trigger loosen up much with use or does it need the "trigger job"?

reddeer:
I use Weaver 4 X 4's extension rings on all my Encores and Contenders.  The Encores are all rifles 209 X 50, 7-08, 300 win mag, 7mm rem mag.  All barrels have Leupold 6 X 42 scopes mounted as far forward as possible (to avoid scope bite and easy hammer access).  Contenders are all pistols, 357 mag, 357 Max, 30 30, 7-30 Waters, 44 mag, and 45 X 209.  The extension puts the scopes farther out over the barrel and reduces barrel climb.  The rings have never failed me and I have a bench full of other makes that for some reason or the other I did not like.
I really doubt that you will have any trouble with the rings.
