Hello Everybody) Once again its a shame buying a weapon and finding
out about people having to buy this (25acp) due to pressure problems
and again this special breech plug is 50.00 or 60.00 dollars. I really
thought I was making a good buy.

As far as I know its entirely optional. There has been much debate as to whether it really helps that much (read about it on chuckhawks.com).

As for me... I've spent far more on accessories, bullets and powder than I did for my sidekick.

Thank You MT_Jeep. I was just curious and concern and yes I agree. Iam now buying the pellets,primers, range rod,Cleaners) Boy this stuff
is expensive. Thanks Again

I've only tried 777 loose, pyrodex pellets and Black Mag. My best results have been with the 777 loose.

I live in Montana which allows sabots only in areas where a rifle could be used and in "weapons restricted areas" pure lead projectiles must be used. My best results to date have been:

250 gr Hornady XTP / MMP black sabots with 110 gr 777 loose
group = 1.5 in at 100 yds
vel average 2100 fps

260 gr dead center with 110 gr 777 loose
group = 1.3 in at 100 yds
vel average 2066 fps

I'm also going to try 300 gr Hornady XTPs in the near future.

for pure lead I've tried Hornady Great Plains at 385 gr and Ultimate Conicals at 390 gr, best to date:

390 gr ultimate conicals with 90 gr 777 loose
group = 2.25 in at 100 yds
did not chronograph

This year I will hunt using my high power rifle but maybe next year after I acquaint myself with my new muzzleloader and still in one piece
after shooting the weapon and Yes learn a few tricks. I don't think we
have a whole lot of rules or laws for the use blackpowder Rifles (Texas)
but I don't know (Yet) but will. Thanks for the bullet and load data.

lakuj I still find the primer carries is the best way to go. They are fast to reload, helps identify if the gun is loaded and I have not found a pressure problem yet. I use two pyrodex pellets W-W 209 primers and Thompson 250 grain Shock-wave bullets. I use the same combination with 240 grain XTP bullets.
