1858 New Army Case Hardened Checkered Grips .44
« on: September 16, 2005, 12:09:17 PM »
Ok, I took a risk and bought the above pistol from Cabelas.

Does anyone have any experience with this particular gun?

Is it made by Pietta like Cabelas other guns?

Also, does the case-hardening provide anything other than good looks?

I should get it in a week or so and will report on the condition "out of the box",  though it may be a bit before I actually get to shoot it.

Thanks :D

Looking forward to your review. I am thinking about getting one also. I drove to  my nearest cabelas and they don't have any. I will have to order it. The clerk had no idea who made it.

Its a good clean gun made by Pietta.  The case hardening is gorgeous (kind of like tortoise shell), the handles feel and look  good, the  fit is good for the price.  I have'nt shot it yet but I will post when I have found a place to shoot it here in Northern Kalifornia.
