Just for the total fun of it. :-D

What new big bore factory cartridge do you see being introduced in the near future?  Or what big bore cartridge would you like to see introduced or become a factory loading?  Maybe a .375 WSM?  Lawdog

Since it's just for fun, I muse that the ability to design and build small amounts of specialized machinery today will get us some American made double rifles. Maybe not by a major outfit like Winchester, but by somebody else.  Cartridges? Something rimmed, or something with an innovative way of reliably ejecting rimless cases.  Sure would be nice.

I also would like to see some American made double rifles. 375 H&H, 416 Rigby and 458 Lott.  :-D

I would expect to see a short 33.  Maybe a 338-08 that is presently a wildcat.

Lawdog poses a puzzling question. I can't see Winchester comming out with a .375 WSM after the drubbing they are going to take on the .325 WSM. They will be a little "gun shy" on the big ones after that. :) It is insanity to try to take market share from the .375 H&H, the round is so perfect in it's niche.
The .450 Marlin very nicely fills the gap between the .45-70 and the .458 Win. Mag for North America, so what else is there for the gun companies to do?
Questor, I don't expect to see any reasonably priced American made doubles in our lifetime. The cost of regulating the barrels would be more than the combined cost of machining and assembling the parts.

In my opinion it's way to soon to be making a statement like that.  With Kimber adding the .325 to their line and Ruger, Savage and other manufactures considering adding it to their lines it looks like Winchester has come up with another winner to their WSM line.  Lawdog

Lawdog, time will tell. But trying to fool the gun-buying public by calling an 8MM (almost a pox in this country) something else, like .325, just might backfire on Winchester. Besides, the .338 Win Mag is just too darn good to be challenged. Remington found that out pretty quick with their 8MM offering.

You and I look upon the WSM cartridges differently.  I don't see the WSM's as a challenge to "standard length" cartridges.  I see them as an option.  There are hunters/shooters out there that just don't care for the longer actions, although the difference isn't all that much.  The thing is right now sales of the WSM’s(and the WSSM’s) are doing very well.  And that is what makes the accountants happy.  And that is what will keep the WSM’s and the WSSM’s around.   :toast:   Lawdog

I just don't care for the short action, it works for some but I just like the old long action cartridges.  :D
