need trigger guard for CVA mountain rifle
« on: September 16, 2005, 04:45:55 PM »
I was at the local gun shop today picking up some 4fg that I'd ordered, and I accidently bought a 50 cal CVA Mountain rifle.  The gun is unfired, was apparantly brought in by a guy whose father had passed away.  Anyway the gun had never had it's trigger guard installed (I got it for a ridiculously low price).  So I'm looking for a place that I can buy a trigger guard for it.  Any ideas?

redneck try track of the wolfe, the trigger guard you need is the same as the ohio trigger guard, it is the same as the cva one they are around $10, you will have to clean it up .they come in sand cast brass or nickle silver  go to the tracks sight and look under gun parts scroll down to trigger guards you will see  the ohio heading  but you mite see an other one you like better.hope this is of some help.

I heard that an outfit called Deer Creek is selling these same guns, maybe they can fix you up.

Deer Creek is a mom & pop operation.  Good folks to work with, but sometimes hard to get ahold of.  I heartily recommend talking to them during the week, though.

I ordered one today for $15, that puts my new rifle's total cost at less than a tank of gas.  Even my wife can't be mad at me for buying it.  I can't wait to shoot it!

So where did you order it?  Let us know how you make out with fitting it.  I remember on my CVA Mtn. Rifle I had to shim the front of the trigger guard or the trigger would bind.  Wish I still had the gun, though....

Sorry, I ordered it at deer creek. They said that they would mail it off yesterday, so I hope it gets here next week.

Went to the range today.  Wow what a lot of fun.  I brought my kentucky, and the new mountain rifle.  I just shot round balls, and I ended the day with a 2 inch 5 shot 100 yard group (which is fantastic for me with open sights).  I was using 90 grains of 2f 777, .010 pillow ticking lubed with crisco, and .490 hornady roundballs.  I can't wait till my next day off so I can play some more!
