DO YOU THINK THIS IS A PROBLEM?
« on: September 16, 2005, 06:58:35 PM »
I was out on the farm that my bro and i work on and we had just planted our food plot, we decided we would call up some of the boys and and shoot some clay birds. we shot for about 3 hrs, and we decided to break for dinner and go back and shoot my spot lights(3 1000wats lights) i loaded a bird for my friend and as soon as he shot, the barrel snapped off and the threw the shot into the ground 3' infront of us.  we looked over his gun and the damn barrel had cracked at the little knob(i am not sure what it is actually called) and fell off. we are all lucky it didnt blow the end of the barrel off. i have seen where the barrel will bubble out, and the end explode, but never the barrel cracking and flying off. it was a rem 870.
maybe that is why i shoot winchester

This is a very common problem with M870s, I see it at almost every trap shoot I attend.  Apparently the glue they use to attach the different sections of old left-over barrel stock loosens, expecially at night.  Whatever you do, don't fire that shotgun again!  Send it to me and I'll talk to the Remington factory about it for you.
