When did this come about? I knew he hadn't been on in awhile but didn't know he was undergoing cemo treatments. I'll be sure to keep him in my prayers.

And he is a genuinely nice guy, a true gentleman. I hope we hear soon all is again well with him. Anyone know him personally on here or live close by to know how to contact him other than via the forums? Those of us who met him at the prairie dog shoot sure know what a fine person he is.

I haven't met him personally but i sure wish there was some way we could get in touch with him. Anyone who is going through that needs all the support they can get. My grandmother had to go through it about 8-10 years ago. I still remember how she acted and how she felt. It's really sad. She passed away about 4 years ago.
again i wish there was someway to get intouch with him or his family.

Deadeye is an outstanding individual and we are all praying for him and hoping for the best possible outcome. While I don't feel that I can say I really "know" him personally, I did meet him at the PD shoot and we had been emailing some before that, and still do. Here's a copy of the last email I got from him. I don't think he'd mind me posting it to this thread. It came on Aug. 30.

Thanks to all for the well wishes and funnies but would like ao ask that any future attachments be suspended for the time being> Not enough time in the day to down load um all.....The only ISP available to us so far is DIAL UP!! AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! There is a HS PC chip that was given to us when we checked  ...unfortunately after screwing with it for a short period of time...the front dest said that the software that came with it was stolen awhile back and it hasn't been replaced...... What a deal and oh so worthless..... THAT ALONE was one of the deternining factors of choosing this place was so Steve could take care of his daily work...so hes been absent from work now for a day and a half!!!!!

Have had four different treatments so far and am kinda feeling a little better....took three different treatments yesterday and started chemo today..

Weather has been a little rainy and am feeling so sorry for all the people stranded by t he storm.....when we came over the weekend Saturday night....we couldn't find a motel or anything because of all the people leaving the coast....really bad....we finally found a place paid a premium price for it but was worth it as Steve was exhausted....

Well more later and again thanks for all the prayers....mucho appreciated!!

Later John

Actually Marv, I'm probably closer, but it's still close to 200 miles for me.  Of course, if he's gone to Houston for treatment at the VA Hospital or MD Anderson, that would be a little closer than Bay City.

It's probably Houston, since there was a shortage of hotel/motel space.

Sometimes it's amazing how far down a thread can get in a week!

I'm pretty sure some would be upset about bumping a thread back to the top, and rightly so, if it was just some pet topic.  However, I think concern over the health and well being of one of our own certainly overrides the normal objections.

I don't know Deadeye, but I have enjoyed reading his posts since I came here. This is the first time I have been able to catch up with the board since I went to 3rd shift. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

Its been close to two months since the original post by Shaner and it doesn't take long for this thread to filter way down the list.  So, I'm bringing it back up to the top as a reminder that we need to keep up with our cyber friends.

I still hope and pray for Deadeye. I might be getting away from this construction for a few days but before I leave or when I get back I'll check and if anyone can locate a phone number for Deadeye or "Steve" he spoke of I would be willing to call if whoever has the number would prefer not to. I think the time has come for us to reach out to him. Please let me know if there is any further word from him or if there is a number we (I) can call, Thanks....<><....
