Ruger #1 Scope

I have a Ruger #1-B .243 & can not decide what scope to mount. I have a Redfield Tracker 4X16 or Burris 4X12 compact. What one would you mount?

Given the choice you have, I would go with the Burris 4X12 compact. That extra power can affect your accuracy. In my opinion when to much power is used, it makes all your movements magnified. I would rather feel comfortable with a good sight picture.  :D

hendog,

Basically comes down to what you are going to be using the No. 1 for.  Combination of varmints and deer or just deer hunting?  If a combination is what you have in mind then go with the higher power.  I have 6-24X Burris Black Diamonds on all of my No. 1's.  When the distance gets long and the target gets small the added magnification comes in handy.  Lawdog

I Plan on using it for a combo gun. I temporary put both scopes on & the 4X16 just looks to big. Also, it makes it feel top heavy. I ended up mounting the Burris compact. Now off to the range to see how it shoots.
