Whats the difference in the omega and the omega Z5???
« on: September 18, 2005, 09:15:08 AM »
I recently unloaded all my encore stuff to a local dealer.  I got tired of the whole switch barrel thing.  I was looking into the omega, have not actually held the omega Z5.  What is the difference in them,  the tc web site does not mention the z5 (unless i missed it some how).  Only difference I can see is the price. Whats the deal.

The Omega Z5 has a matte finish and black composite stock.

Thompson customer support said the only difference is that the z5 has williams sites on it and that the pull down actions pivot point is attached to a welded lug on the bottom of the omega barrels.  On the z5 barrels the pivot peice is bolted on.  I have not seen a matte finish one yet, but the only ones I have seen are blue composites.  The price difference between the omega and the z5 with both finishes the same and the black composite stock is about 100 dollars.  I have not seen the underside of the barrel but I think I would rather have the bolt on pivot peice because it can be easily replace.
