I have a Steyr-Mannlicher 7mm-08 and want to have it rechambered to an Ackley Improved 7mm-08. Can anyone recommend a dependable gunsmith in the north Texas area? I live in Dallas. Thanx!

I think the barrels are hammer forged and might be not the best for re-chambering.

Hammer farged barrels won't create a problem but the spool mag might.  A lot of companies use hammer forged barrels today..

What can be gained with the expense and bother of reaming a new chamber to the AI version of 7-08?  None of my beeswax but seems like not that much that  this cartridge can be improved.  Just wondering and wanting to learn something.
