Ruger M77 MKII 260 doesn't shoot well
« on: September 21, 2005, 10:00:17 AM »
I've got a Ruger MKII in 260 Rem that shoots all over the place. I know the scope is good, the rings are tight, and I've tried two different ammo types.

The stock seems to be very tight to the barrel in a couple spots, can I easily float the barrel and get it to hold a decent group? The stock is plastic so I know it has under barrel ribs that may need to be sanded down as well.

All my wood stocked rifles shot very well after a good free-floating, I just wonder if I need to do anything special with this type of stock.

If it were me.....

1.  Free float the barrel and shoot for improvement

2.  Get the barrel re-crowned and shoot for improvement

3.  Glass bed and shoot....

4   Get a trigger job done and shoot.....

5.  Re-barrel or sell the gun
