.35 Rem from a 14", 7-30 Waters from a 14", and 7mm TCU from 10".
While all these are technically rifle rounds, I do shoot them from a pistol. Hopefully I'll tag a deer this year with my .444 Marlin in 10"

I use a 475 Linebaugh most of the time but this year I hope to switch up with a 44 Special some. If I get a chance to set my reloading bench back up I may try a 500 Linebaugh but more than likely this gun wont see the deer woods till 2006, Lord willing.

Take Care,
Scott

Although I have used a .357 magnum, for deer hunting I prefer my SRH in 44 magnum.

I use 45LC 44 mag and 357 mag Lately though I've been carrying the 357 more. It's lighter than the blackhawks and very accurate and it's stainless so in wet weather I grab it first.

I voted .44 Mag.  I have taken several whitetails with my Smith model 29.  I believe the .357 is a little light for deer sized game.

I've been intending to compare energy levels produced by a .44 mag, a .50 caliber muzzleloader, and a .410 shotgun slug (which is now legal in some states, I think).

I have never understood the inconsistencies of hunting laws between states with similar terrain and population density.

Please post your findings as I have some "old 410 slugs". I know of some more "senior citizens" use 44 Sp 240 hard cast for white tail and will swear by them.

When I hunt with a revolver I use my Mod 29 44 magnum loaded with the 200 gr. Hornady XTP bullet.

Other times use a Remington XP100 chambered in 7mm-08.

I see your also involved in helping others get into the hunting and shooting sports. I too teach Hunters Safety here in Illinois. I get great joy in helping others get into our sport. On average, we put over a hundred kids a year through the oourse and start them shooting shotgun at flying targets. Thanks for the help in "Bama" and keep up the good work.

I am new to hunting but this year I will be using a Ruger Redhawk 44 Mag. with 7.5 inch bbl.  Many have told me I'm nuts to start hunting using a handgun but I think there is nothing like starting with what you are most comfortable with.
