If I don't reload,which would be the best for under 100 yard deer hunting?44mag or 45 LC? thanks. sj :? I already have a 336, 30-30.just love lever actions.

IMO 44 mag. I hear the heavy loads in 45 LC from Cor-Bon et al can get pricey.

Put them both on a rack, close your eyes and turn around 3 times, walk up and see which one you grab first. Both would be great. Under 100 yards, you wouldn't need expensive maximum loads. Don't use hollow points. Get penetration with hardcast or a softpoint.

Why not consider a .357? It'd do as good, and a lot cheaper to shoot.

I reccommend the 44 mag you can get them anywhere and you can get some cheap practice loads . You can get very heavy but not needed loads from cor-bon grizzly and buffalo bore. The federal 300 cast hunting load would be great for deer and blackbear to 100 yards

In a rifle, wouldn't a .357 Maximum be better?
